Staff Recognition Week: Creating artworks to celebrate the NHS during Mental Health Awareness Week

An art competition held as part of Mental Health Awareness Week in May encouraged Trust colleagues and their families to get creative and send in poems, short stories and drawings that celebrated the role and achievements of the NHS.

Patient involvement is at the heart of the HMP Leicester Healthcare Team’s work, with team members listening to and engaging with patients to help improve services and understand their experiences.

During the coronavirus pandemic, patient opinions and experience continue to be invaluable, with many necessary changes to services and regimes impacting patients and staff alike.

The Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) is a home visiting parenting programme delivered across Nottinghamshire to first-time young mothers, their partners and families. It supports up to 375 young families at a time to have a healthy pregnancy, improve their child’s physical and emotional health and development, plan their own futures and achieve their aspirations.

The Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health supports people with a range of issues to do with gender identity healthcare. This includes providing transgender healthcare to people who identify as transgender and/or non-binary.

Patients accessing the Trust’s Community Pulmonary Rehabilitation service are a particularly vulnerable and high-risk group for Covid-19, so the teams faced a real challenge in continuing to provide a pulmonary rehabilitation programme.

The day services at John Eastwood Hospice closed for patient safety just ahead of the coronavirus lockdown, but the team was determined this wouldn’t mean an end to the support they offer.

The team works with a wide range of people, from those first receiving a diagnosis of long term ill health to those nearing the end of life. During the pandemic they have been supporting individuals at a distance, while also working hard to redesign services for the future, so they can get up and running again as quickly as possible.

The Trust’s Let’s Talk Wellbeing service provides psychological assessment and treatment (talking therapies) for common mental health problems for patients in Nottingham City and parts of Nottinghamshire, and Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Patients and staff at Lings Bar hospital had an amazing boost from well-wishers during the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, with letters, cards and pictures sent in by hundreds of local people as part of the Dear Friend project.
